Murata has released what it considers to be the world's smallest narrowband IoT cellular wireless module. The device measures only 15.6mm x 14mm x 2.2mm and is manufactured on a PCB with a metal case designed for compact battery-powered IoT / IIoT applications. This module combines HiSilicon Hi2115 single-chip wireless SoC device to provide radio transceiver, baseband and application processor functions. In addition, the module includes a power management IC, a DC-DC converter, wireless front-end matching components such as baluns and low-pass filters, and RF switches. HiSilicon Hi2115 includes an Arm Cortex M0 processor core running at 40MHz, and is equipped with 64kByte SRAM and 256kByte Flash, which can use industry standard AT command set command module to communicate. This module complies with the NB-IoT 3GPP Release 13 narrowband standard, and can work in low and medium frequency bands. The module's low power consumption makes it ideal for use in a variety of small battery-powered IoT applications and can maintain a battery life of 10 years.
