Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation announced that it has started mass production of 21 new microcontrollers in the M3H group, a new member of the TXZ+™ family of advanced series manufactured on a 40nm process. The M3H group has a built-in ARM Cortex-M3 core, running at a speed of up to 120MHz, and can integrate up to 512KB code flash memory and 32KB data flash memory, with a write cycle life of 100,000 times. In addition, the new microcontrollers offer a wealth of interface and motor control options such as UART, I2C, encoders and programmable motor control. Devices of the M3H group are suitable for a wide range of applications including motors, home appliances and industrial equipment.

In order to cope with the diversity of consumer devices, the new M3H group products enhance the communication function with UART, TSPI, I2C and 2-unit DMAC. In addition, a digital LCD driver is integrated, which reduces the number of components used for display functions, facilitates contrast adjustment, and ensures flexibility in board layout.

The high-speed, high-precision 12-bit analog/digital converter (ADC) supports up to 21 analog-to-digital conversion input channels, and the sample-and-hold time can be individually set, enabling this group of devices to support a variety of sensing applications. In addition, combined with advanced programmable motor control circuitry that operates synchronously with high-speed, high-precision 12-bit analog/digital converters, they provide a suitable solution for controlling AC and DC brushless motors.

This group of devices has built-in self-diagnostic functions for ROM, RAM, ADC and clock, helping customers to pass IEC60730 Class B functional safety certification.

Key features of the new product:

- High-performance ARM Cortex-M3 core with a maximum frequency of 120MHz

- Optimized for consumer devices with a wide range of memory and package styles

- Self-diagnostic function that meets IEC60730 Class B functional safety requirements

Application:

- Master control devices for consumer equipment, home appliances, toys, office supplies, medical equipment, etc.

- Motor control for industrial equipment
